One Day Trip to Miyama - Yasaka Parade Festival & Ayu Sweet Fish Cuisine

■Traditional Festival Praying for Rich Harvest which is designated as Kyoto Heritage Intangible Cultural Property

Yasaka Parade Festival of Tauta Gion Shrine is an annual festival held on 14th July every year.   Sacred music and dancing performance are offered to pray for rich harvest.  It has a long tradition and is designated as one of Kyoto Prefectural Intangible Cultural Properties.  Three dances and music performances of kagura, sangiri, nigimakura featuring mythical and folk characters like the tengu (long-nosed goblin), oni (ogres), hyottoko (clown-like man), otafuku (plain Jane), jiji (old man), and others are presented as the procession is made.

Japanese style cuisine to enjoy Miyama's ayu sweet fish for lunch.
Natural ayu sweet fish grown in clean water of Yura River in Miyama had been awarded the second prize in the National Ayu Competition last year for consecutive 3 years (in total 4 times)
